Pearl Harbor

6 am, standing on a street corner, waiting for a pick up for today's activities. This feels weird.......

At Pearl Harbor Memorial at sunrise. Powerful. Once again, I'm in awe of my father, family members and veterans who fought, suffered and died for the rest of us. I have vague memories of being here as a child but I had no real understanding of it. It's emotional at the least, glad I made this part of my adventure.

Awesome day exploring Oahu today. Pearl Harbor Memorial, pineapple fields, North Shore with its beautiful beaches and small Hawaiian towns, went up into the Diamond Head crater. An amazing day today, beginning with a pickup on the street corner at 6:15 am, ugh!  I'm not a morning person but it was worth it.  First stop Pearl Harbor Memorial for sunrise.  Such an emotional and humbling experience.  The military personnel and civilians must have thought the world came to an end that morning.

We then started around the island, making an entire loop.  The pineapple fields, the North Shore beaches and towns, and Diamond Head..... I saw a side of Oahu that is so different from the metropolitan area of Honolulu and Waikiki Beach.  People are so friendly and warm.  I wore my Bazinga shirt and it proved to be a great ice breaker.  Everyone knows Sheldon!

I returned and finished the evening settled on Waikiki Beach watching a beautiful sunset.
